Gears of War for Windows: Worth the Wait?

Well after much delay, Gears of War was released for Windows (with DirectX 10 support, mind you). Even still, we devoted to the PC had to wait while our console brethren rejoiced and played a great game. However, I believe that this game was worth the wait...for those who paid the big bucks for a kickass graphics processor. Those enjoying an 8000 series graphics card from Nvidia or the AMD equivalent will experience graphics topping those of the Xbox 360; however, those who are in possession of older GPUs will have a less exciting experience. On my XFX GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB, I had very few issues with the graphics settings cranked all the way up. After playing this game on the 360, I was psyched to know that the PC gave a better graphic experience. Also, the additional gameplay chapters are a bonus (including a new tough boss). The dissapointment came in the online play, because I don't have a Windows Live Gold account. Silver account users have a difficult time finding a match with their friends and other such nonsense. However, online play is a fun time once you can find others to play with (which is a trial in and of itself). I did have a great time playing this game; however, and I think it was worth buying.

Overall: 7 out of 10
Pros: Better graphics (with the proper hardware) than its console version and DirectX 10 support.
Additional (but brief) gameplay chapters.
Great gameplay and storyline with likeable characters.
Innovative gameplay and cover system.
Cons: Very long wait for essentially the same game.
Lousy online matchmaking system for those without a Windows Live Gold account.
Graphics worse than consoles (older hardware).
